Part of the personal files of Robert Hellwarth, the folder includes a brief account of the early history of the laser research program by R.E. Kidder, dated August 1972, and copies of correspondence between the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory at the University of California and the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission and the Institute for Defense Analyses (1962-1963) regarding the development of lasers in weapons technology.
